Day 11 - On the Road Again

You may have noticed that we've been "offline" for a few days. Our national parks don't seem to have WiFi and Mr. Brandt (Brandt RV) from the Tetons was not in our campground again.

For our day off, we drove around the loop to Fishing Bridge, Canyon Village, and Old Faithful. We saw elk, bison, coyotes, and lots of "geezers" according to one lady we overheard. Last night it was below freezing and the rangers say it has been the coldest fall in a very long time.

Today we had a great ride out of the park crossing the continental divide twice and road by Old Faithful again. We saw grotto, grand, and castle geezers when trying to take a short cut. But alas, we had to backtrack to the main road. We went off roading at Fairy Falls for about six miles which turned out to be quite a challenge since it was an all a dirt path covered in about 2 inches of fine volcanic rock. We got back on the road again and followed a very pretty river all the way to West Yellowstone. We ate lunch at DQ (they need a new cook) and Rhett and I celebrated crossing into Montana with Blizzards.

We are camping at a very nice private campground along Lake Hebgen. Incidently, the damn is leaking and the lake has dropped about six inched per day for the last week. Tomorrow we climb 2000 feet to Virginia City.
